Understand what BoundHive does before creating a project.
The essentials about the workspace, Amazon KDP, accounts, and where publication still happens.
What is BoundHive?
BoundHive is an AI-assisted publishing workspace for planning, drafting, editing, illustrating, validating, and packaging a book project. It keeps the brief, manuscript, publication metadata, cover assets, validation results, and exports connected so you can review the complete handoff instead of managing isolated files.
Who is BoundHive for?
BoundHive is designed for independent authors and small publishing teams preparing books for Amazon KDP. It is most useful when you want a structured workflow, editable AI assistance, saved project history, and technical checks without giving up the final editorial and publishing decisions.
Does BoundHive publish directly to Amazon?
No. BoundHive prepares the files, metadata, assets, validation report, and publication checklist. You inspect that package and complete the final upload and submission in your own Amazon KDP account.
Do I need an Amazon KDP account?
You do not need a KDP account to explore public BoundHive resources or begin planning a project. You do need your own KDP account to upload the finished files, answer Amazon’s disclosure questions, set marketplace details, and publish the book.
Is BoundHive affiliated with Amazon?
No. BoundHive is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Amazon. Amazon controls KDP, reviews each submission, and can change its specifications and policies.
Can I start with only a book idea?
Yes. A new project starts with the intended reader, purpose, format, approximate scope, and other practical constraints. A more specific brief produces an outline and draft that are easier to evaluate, but you can revise the project as the book develops.
Keep the book editable from the first brief to the final export.
How saved projects, revisions, illustrations, format changes, and interrupted work behave.
Where are my saved books?
Every saved project appears on your private bookshelf in Book Studio. Open a project to continue editing its brief, plan, manuscript, illustrations, cover, metadata, validation results, or exports.
Can I edit what BoundHive generates?
Yes. Generated outlines, manuscript sections, metadata, prompts, captions, and other project fields remain editable. BoundHive is built around review and revision, not silent one-click publication.
Does BoundHive generate the entire book in one request?
No. The workflow first creates a structured plan and then generates reviewable manuscript sections in separate jobs. This makes it possible to approve, change, retry, or remove one part without replacing work that you already accepted.
Can I change the format after generation?
You can change project choices, but switching format, trim size, paper, ink, bleed, or page targets can affect layout, cover geometry, validation, and export files. Revalidate and create a new export after a production specification changes.
What happens if generation stops?
A job can pause because the brief is incomplete, a safety check fails, credits are insufficient, or a provider is temporarily unavailable. Completed project content remains saved, so supported work can resume without discarding finished sections.
Why was my image request declined?
Illustration, cover, and A+ banner prompts are screened before generation under the Acceptable Use Policy, in addition to the AI provider’s own safety systems. A declined image request is not started and no credits are charged for it; the prompt stays in the editor so you can revise it. A temporary technical problem is shown as temporary, not as a content decision. BoundHive does not automatically reword a declined request.
Can a book include illustrations?
Yes. A project can reserve illustration slots at specific manuscript positions. You can edit the prompt, generate or upload an image, compare versions, select the result to use, add a caption, replace it, or remove the slot before export.
Use AI as an editable production aid, not as an authority.
What AI assists with, what can go wrong, and what the author must verify before publishing.
Where does BoundHive use AI?
AI may help normalize a brief, propose an outline and metadata, draft manuscript sections, and create illustration or cover artwork. Deterministic format, dimension, compatibility, and count checks belong to the versioned rules engine rather than an AI guess.
Can AI-generated text contain errors?
Yes. Generated material can be inaccurate, repetitive, incomplete, misleading, or too similar to existing work. Review facts, quotations, claims, continuity, originality, age suitability, accessibility, and permissions before approving any result.
Does BoundHive fact-check every generated claim?
No. Technical validation can check named, countable project constraints, but it cannot establish that every factual statement or quotation in a manuscript is correct. The author must verify substantive claims against reliable sources.
Can I regenerate only one section?
Yes. The staged workflow is designed so an individual manuscript section, metadata field, illustration, or cover direction can be revised without silently replacing unrelated approved work.
How should I answer Amazon’s AI disclosure questions?
Answer the questions shown by Amazon truthfully for the finished work you are submitting. BoundHive records how project assets were produced and can provide a publishing note, but you must compare the final project with Amazon’s current disclosure wording and make the submission decision yourself.
Is AI output automatically eligible for copyright protection?
No guarantee can be made. Copyright treatment varies by jurisdiction and depends on the work, the human contribution, and applicable law. Keep records of your brief, edits, selections, original material, and other human authorship decisions, and obtain professional advice when rights are important or disputed.
Know exactly what a validation result can and cannot mean.
Supported configurations, versioned checks, Amazon review, and why a passing report is not approval.
Which book formats can I plan in BoundHive?
The project builder offers Kindle eBook, paperback, and hardcover configurations. Available trim, paper, ink, bleed, page-count, and cover choices depend on the selected format and the active versioned KDP rules catalog.
Are the available print options based on real KDP combinations?
Yes. BoundHive uses a versioned catalog of supported KDP combinations and prevents or flags incompatible selections. The project and validation report identify the rules version used because Amazon can update its specifications.
What does BoundHive validation check?
Validation covers named technical conditions supported by the active ruleset, such as format and trim compatibility, page ranges, ink and paper combinations, bleed choices, required project fields, image-slot state, metadata limits, and export readiness. The report lists the findings it actually evaluated.
Does a passing validation guarantee Amazon approval?
No. A passing result means BoundHive found no blocking issue in the checks named in that report. Amazon can still review content, quality, rights, metadata, account status, marketplace details, and other requirements that software cannot predict.
How do I know which rules were used?
The project and validation report record the active rules version and the checks performed. When the rules catalog changes, affected projects should be validated again before a new submission.
Why should I validate again before uploading?
A manuscript edit, page-count change, new image, metadata revision, or production-specification change can invalidate an earlier result. Amazon can also revise its requirements, so inspect the final package with the current KDP tools and documentation immediately before submission.
Understand what is inside the final publishing handoff.
Export formats, cover geometry, metadata checks, and the final review before an author uploads files.
What files are included in an export?
A supported export is delivered as a ZIP package that can include a DOCX manuscript, EPUB, print interior or review PDF, selected project assets, publication metadata, a validation report, and a field-by-field upload checklist. The exact package depends on the project format and completed assets.
Does BoundHive create a print interior PDF?
For a print project, BoundHive builds a print-interior PDF from the final saved manuscript and layout inputs. You must still inspect page breaks, blank pages, images, margins, bleed, typography, and the complete file in KDP Previewer before submission.
How is a paperback cover size calculated?
Paperback full-wrap geometry depends on the selected trim, paper, bleed, and the final interior PDF page count. BoundHive recalculates the cover specification during export, so changing the interior page count requires a new cover check and export.
How does hardcover cover preparation work?
BoundHive does not invent hardcover case-laminate geometry. Use Amazon’s official KDP cover template for the selected trim, ink, paper, and final page count, complete the one-page full-wrap PDF in a design tool, and attach it to the project for validation and packaging.
What does the metadata checker review?
The public checker reviews countable conditions such as missing title or description text, length limits, empty keyword boxes, and repeated keyword phrases. It does not determine whether claims are accurate, keywords are commercially effective, categories are appropriate, or Amazon will accept the listing.
Can I upload the ZIP file directly to KDP?
No. The ZIP is a private handoff package for you to unpack and review. Use the included checklist to place the appropriate manuscript or interior file, cover file, metadata, disclosure information, and other fields into the corresponding parts of your KDP submission.
See generation cost before work starts and manage billing separately.
How credits are estimated, reserved, settled, and connected to paid subscriptions.
Why does BoundHive use credits?
Text and image tasks use different amounts of provider capacity. Credits make that usage visible in a common unit so the interface can show an estimate before a supported generation job begins.
How many credits does each plan include?
Plus includes 1,000 credits and Double Plus includes 2,500 credits for each paid monthly billing period, at $49 and $98 per month plus applicable taxes. Credits are added when a billing period is paid, not on the first of the calendar month.
Do unused credits carry over to the next month?
No. The credits included with a plan are for that billing period. When the next period is paid, a new allowance is added and whatever was left of the previous allowance expires. Credits added to an account for another reason, such as a support adjustment, are not part of that expiry.
Will I see the credit cost before generation?
Yes. Book Studio shows the credit cost of a plan, a manuscript section, an illustration, a cover, A+ content, or a complete book before the request starts. The price depends on the amount of work: section length, the size of the book, and the number of images. A request reserves that amount while it runs and never settles for more than it showed.
What happens to reserved credits if a job fails?
You do not pay for work that was not delivered. If a request fails, the reservation is released. If one image step of a complete-book run is declined or cannot be generated, only that image is released; drafted sections and other finished parts stay paid and stay saved. Regenerating something you asked for again is a new request and uses credits again.
Where can I review my subscription and credit balance?
Open the account billing area to review the current plan, subscription state, renewal information, credit balance, and recorded subscription history. Payment and invoice management opens through the Creem customer portal.
How do I cancel renewal?
Use the subscription controls in your BoundHive account. Cancellation stops future renewal and normally leaves paid access available through the current period end shown in the account, subject to the checkout terms and mandatory consumer rights.
How do I request a refund or report a billing error?
Email support@boundhive.com from the account email with the transaction or subscription identifier and what happened. Requests are reviewed under the checkout terms shown by Creem and applicable consumer law; canceling renewal by itself does not reverse a completed payment.
Does BoundHive store my payment-card number?
Payment-card details are entered with and handled by Creem rather than stored by BoundHive. BoundHive keeps the provider references and verified subscription events needed to show account billing status.
Protect private project material and know when a human answer is needed.
Rights, provider processing, account deletion, security, and the information support needs to investigate a problem.
Who owns the manuscript and project content?
You retain whatever rights you lawfully hold in the material you submit. BoundHive receives only the limited permission needed to host, process, transform, validate, and export that material to provide the service. BoundHive cannot grant rights that you do not have or determine copyright eligibility for you.
Is my unpublished manuscript turned into public content?
No. Private project content and public BoundHive editorial content are separate. BoundHive does not turn a private manuscript into a public blog post or sell private manuscripts.
Is project content sent to an AI provider?
When you request generation, the relevant brief, settings, manuscript context, or image prompt is sent to the configured provider needed for that task. Image prompts are also sent to the content-screening service operated by Creem before an image is generated; manuscript text is not. Do not submit material you are not permitted to process. Provider processing and retention information is described in the Privacy Policy.
What content is not allowed?
BoundHive may not be used to generate NSFW, pornographic, sexually explicit, or sexually suggestive content, any content that exploits or sexualizes minors, or unlawful, harmful, harassing, or infringing material. The Acceptable Use Policy lists the rules in full and explains how to report a violation to support@boundhive.com.
Can I delete my BoundHive account?
Yes. The account area provides a confirmed deletion workflow for eligible account and project data. Some security, transaction, consent, backup, and legal records may be retained for the periods described in the Privacy Policy.
What should I include in a support request?
Describe what you expected, what happened, the page or workflow step, and the approximate time. Include the project, job, exported filename, transaction, or subscription identifier when relevant, but never send a password, reset token, API key, complete payment-card number, or full unpublished manuscript unless a safe excerpt is specifically requested.
Does BoundHive provide legal, tax, or publishing advice?
No. BoundHive provides software, recorded technical checks, and practical workflow guidance. Rights, taxes, contracts, disclosures, and publication decisions can depend on your location and circumstances, so use a qualified professional when the decision requires individual advice.
Send the project context once. We will help identify the next useful step.
Include the page, project, job, file, or transaction identifier when relevant. Never include passwords, reset links, API keys, or complete payment-card numbers.
