BoundHive KDP Compliance Methodology
This methodology explains what a BoundHive validation result covers, how technical rules differ from AI-assisted guidance, and which publishing decisions remain outside the validator.
What does a BoundHive validation result mean?
A result means the project was evaluated against the checks named in its report and the BoundHive ruleset version recorded with that report. It does not mean Amazon has reviewed or approved the files.
Deterministic checks
The rules engine evaluates supported format and trim combinations, page-count ranges, ink and paper compatibility, bleed choices, selected metadata length and count limits, required project fields, image-slot state, and export readiness. Cover dimensions are calculated from format, trim, page count, paper, bleed, and spine rules when that export workflow supports them.
AI-assisted checks
AI may explain a finding, flag a possible inconsistency, or suggest metadata. These are review prompts, not deterministic Amazon rules. BoundHive labels them so an author can distinguish a calculation from a model judgment.
Sources and ruleset updates
Changeable KDP specifications are maintained from first-party Amazon KDP documentation. The active catalog currently identifies its rules version as 2026-08-21. A future rules update must change the version, update affected tests, and appear in the changelog.
What remains outside the validator
Amazon decides final acceptance and can apply marketplace, content, quality, rights, account, or policy reviews that software cannot predict. Authors remain responsible for the complete interior, cover, metadata, disclosure, rights, and submission.
Does passing validation guarantee Amazon approval?
No. It confirms only the checks listed in the BoundHive report under the recorded rules version. Amazon performs the final review.
How do I know which rules were used?
The project catalog and validation report record a ruleset version and validation timestamp so the result is reproducible.
