The specification step treats format, trim size, ink, paper, bleed, and cover type as connected choices. Options that do not form a supported combination are disabled, and the selected rules version is saved with the project.
Can I begin with only a short book idea?
Yes. BoundHive asks focused questions about the reader, purpose, scope, tone, and desired outcome, then checks the brief for missing or contradictory instructions before drafting.
Can I regenerate one chapter without replacing the book?
Yes. Generation is scoped to the selected outline item, chapter, section, metadata field, or illustration. Existing author edits elsewhere in the project are preserved.
What can I change in the editor?
You can edit the outline, manuscript blocks, headings, metadata, illustration prompts, captions, alt text, and project notes. BoundHive records revisions and marks affected validation results as stale.
How are illustration slots handled?
A manuscript can reserve an image position before an image exists. Each slot keeps its purpose, prompt, caption, alt text, dimensions, and generation history so you can replace or remove the asset without losing its context.
What does the validation report check?
The report lists the BoundHive checks applied to the selected format, manuscript, images, cover, and metadata. Each finding includes its severity, the affected field or file, and a suggested next action.
Does BoundHive guarantee that Amazon will accept the files?
No. BoundHive can identify issues covered by its recorded rules, but Amazon performs an independent review and may apply requirements or judgments outside those checks.
What is included in an export?
An export contains the reviewed manuscript, cover and illustration assets, publication metadata, KDP field-by-field notes, and a versioned validation report. Exact file formats depend on the book configuration.
Can I return to an exported book?
Yes. The bookshelf keeps active and archived projects. You can reopen a project, continue editing, and create a new export without overwriting the earlier package.
