KDP cover workflow

Create cover artwork, then package it at the dimensions the book actually needs.

BoundHive separates editable front artwork from upload-ready cover geometry so a square AI image is never mislabeled as a print cover.

What does BoundHive actually do?

For paperback projects, BoundHive generates front artwork and then builds a full-wrap PDF from the final interior page count, trim, paper, spine, bleed, back panel, and barcode safe area. eBooks use front artwork. Hardcover requires an exact official template.

Deliverables

What you get

  • Editable cover prompt and generated front artwork

  • Paperback full-wrap PDF calculated from final exported page count

  • Cover specification JSON and review preview

  • Blank barcode safe area and spine text only when the page-count rule allows it

Workflow

How it works in the product

  1. Set the production specification

The binding, trim, paper, and final page count determine the cover geometry.

  2. Generate artwork

Create original art without relying on it for spine, barcode, bleed, or panel math.

  3. Compose the wrap

BoundHive places back, spine, and front panels in an upload-ready paperback PDF.

  4. Inspect before upload

Use KDP Previewer and re-export if the interior page count changes.

What this does not guarantee

  • Generated artwork still requires rights, quality, and typography review.
  • Paperback dimensions are invalidated when the final interior page count changes.
  • BoundHive does not invent case-laminate dimensions for hardcover.
